Laura Kathleen St. Louis MICDS Western Kentucky Exotic Motors fashion designer female business woman

Saint Louis designer Laura Kathleen Baker began working on her career in fashion when she was 8 years old. After many years of designing and constructing garments for herself she attended Western Kentucky University where she earned a bachelors degree in Design, Merchandising, and Textiles. “LK” also studied fashion design at Academia Italiana in Florence Italy.

Laura Kathleen has turned the dream of being a fashion designer into a reality. Remaining based in Saint Louis Missouri, the Laura Kathleen brand represents someone who obtains luxury. You may have caught her designs on season 9 of Project Runway as a top 5 finalist or on the runway at Mercedes Benz Fashion week. After PR season 9, Laura had the opportunity to compete on Project Runway All-Stars Season 2 where she finished in the top 6. Laura has casted the new designers on seasons 10-13 with Lifetime and has been the commentary on the Road to the Runway.

Over 10 years ago, Laura Kathleen began a fashion program at Lift for Life Academy in Saint Louis. She quickly realized she would be teaching much more than just fashion. Each year the program has a fashion show fundraiser where the students model their own creations. The show is now the Lift for Life Gala Celebrating Success and is the largest fundraiser for the school.

Beginning in 2015, Laura became an adjunct professor at Washington University. In 2019, Laura Kathleen was the co-chair for the inaugural event Threads with the Missouri History Museum. This bi-annual celebration recognizes the museums work of collecting and curating one of the largest fashion archives in North America. The collection exceeds 18,000 pieces.

Laura Kathleen also helps manage the family business, Exotic Motors Auto Group. EMAG provides high-end car service, transport, and storage for car collectors and enthusiasts.

Laura and her husband Danny enjoy raising their two daughters, traveling, racing, and working their Belgian Malinois named Taz.
